Padlet is a dynamic, cloud-based platform that allows teachers to create virtual bulletin boards for organising and sharing diverse content types in the classroom. Its intuitive interface supports realtime collaboration, making it an invaluable resource for educators and students alike.
Free Plan: Teachers can create up to three Padlets with a file upload limit of 25MB per file.
Key Features:
• Multimedia Integration: Teachers can upload various content types, including text, images, videos, audio files, and documents, facilitating diverse and engaging
presentations.
• Real-Time Collaboration: Multiple teachers and students can contribute simultaneously to a padlet, promoting interactive learning and group projects.
• Customisable Layouts: Padlet offers several layouts, such as grid, stream, and freeform, allowing teachers to tailor the appearance to their specific needs.
Educational Applications:
• Showcasing Student Work: Facilitate an space where multiple classes within a year group can display their projects, fostering a sense of community and shared
learning.
• Home Learning Assignments: Create padlets for students to share their home-based activities, reading and projects, encouraging engagement and peer feedback. This is great because children can hear and see other children’s projects too.
• Brainstorming Sessions: Facilitate collaborative idea generation where students can post and discuss concepts in real-time. Have this up on your interactive whiteboard
and you can then share this to the class, pulling out examples.
• Resource Sharing: Create a centralised space for distributing study materials, articles, and multimedia resources. For example, in the past, I created a digital
library full of online reading resources.
Pro Tips:
• Manage Free Plan Limitations: To maximise the free plan, regularly delete old padlets to stay within the three-padlet limit.
• Engagement: Encourage students to personalise their posts with images, videos, and links to make contributions more engaging.
• Organisation: Use columns and colour coding to categorise information, making padlets easier to navigate.
• Moderation: Enable content moderation to review posts before they go live, ensuring appropriateness and quality.
Be aware that this needs to be communicated with other teachers to avoid stalling other teacher’s lessons
Children can share their learning and reading online which can then be seen by others further motivating them and encouraging competitiveness.
